What if the storage of the chairs in his restaurant would become something creative? All those who have worked in a restaurant know it’s quite frequent to end up with a surplus of chairs, and mostly with a lack of space when it comes to store them. Chairs are piled often not very esthetically in a corner of the bar or restaurant, but this is not the case with this Txoko situated in Bilbao, Spain. A Txoko is a “gastronomic company”, in other words, a place where you can meet with family or friends in order to cook and then have dinner all around a large table.

This Txoko has the particularity of having requested the assistance of FLORES Taller de Arquitectura, a Bilbao architect’s office, in order to design a space for chairs. And the least we can say is that this office of architects showed originality. In order to optimize space, the creators have designed a wall on which it is possible to stack the chairs in an aesthetic and designed way.

This gourmet company has an industrial kitchen, a bathroom as well as a common room. 32 members are to be counted in this company, and the same number of chairs. However, it is rare that all the 32 members should meet all together and thus extra chairs are stored on the wall, creating a backdrop of art and design.

In order to provide contrast and especially to highlight oak wood that makes up the chairs, they are encased in a matte black wall. It is also the design, knowledge to solve a problem by managing the space as well as possible while providing creative solutions.
